    Deryk Marks will be one of the dominant players in the NSIC and not to mention has a phenomenal glove… arguable the best shortstop in the NSIC???? anyone disagree???? the only other shortstop that is any good at was bond from wayne state

    Deryk Marks won’t even play shortstop this year, but yes he’s a phenomenal player

    also ryan sanders is by far one of the most dominant pitchers this year im sure he will run through the nsic and lead the beavers to their first nsic championship and possibly first regional championship

    I think their are several good ss in the NSIC. If they stay healthy. I am biased but I think Concordia’s SS will be pretty good. Made 1 error last year in 99 chances, batted .354.

    My bad, Sanders is a junior – maybe he can be the guy. I’m sure the 5.35 era and the 2-5 record from last year was an accident.

    By the way, while his numbers for the Crookston game were impressive, Crookston is not. I think they were 7-42 or something similar to that.

    Oh, and StatRat – while your checking your stats check where the coaches picked bemiji. What? 11th? Why that can’t be, can it?

    Again I think that a couple of other guys deserve some attention for player of the week. True Freshman Jordan Smith going 7-11 batting .636 with 2 runs scored and 3RBIs.
    Also Nate Baumann went 4-for-8 with a home run, 4 runs scored, 2 RBI and 3 stolen bases. I was told he also caught and did a great job behind the plate stopping many bad pitches.
    Its great to have baseball to talk about. The NSIC looks to have plenty good players this year.

    Comment;
    Is it just me or is this a real item?
    Does the hitting seem to be better than the pitching in the NSIC? Is it fewer pitchers? Better going to D1 or just so many people who can hit?
    IN HS and B4 it seemed like if you had a couple of decent pitchers you could do real well?
    Look at SW last year. Not saying Kinney isn’t a great hitter but 5 people around 400 and they didn’t dominate in fact I thought they were pretty average? Allot of other teams with several players around 400?! Aluminum bats!!!??

    Hitters are usually ahead of pitchers early on. It takes pitchers a couple of games to completely gather their rythem and stamina. THe NSIC has many good hitters and a few totally awesome thumpers. I am sure there are a couple of Awesome fells at WSC. I know a few are scattered around the conference. Quality pitching will shine soon enough as the conference season starts.

    The player of the week looks like he’s 14. No disrespect intended he just looks really young.

    Stat Rat – I am going to remove the poll from the front but consider this your warning. You either treat others with respect or you will be blocked from further participation in the comments. Respectful dialogue and banter is welcome. Words like “idiots” is not.

    Looking at conference shortstops, a newcomer to the league is Seth McMullen at Winona St. Very good high school player, already signed with a Northwoods league team, Wausau.

    Sorry, the Northwoods team is in Wausau WI. It is the Wisconsin Woodchucks.

    Sr.;
    You on your way to La Junta? Looks like the weather might cooperate? Good luck. Represent!

      Yes I am. They should have enough snow cleared just in time for my 12:30 flight tomorrow. I’m a little disappointed I’m not gonna see Colorado Mine’s field. Looks great on line but at least we’re playing. From what I hear the boys are gonna play Nebraska-Kearney all 4 games. Not sure why CSM dropped out of the picture. Just checked and they’re calling for a high of 50 on Sat. but only 37 on Sunday.

    Enjoy Colorado. CU has added a DH against Neb Kearney. Not sure who they dropped. The fluxating schedule bothers me some. Hard to plan a weekend trip when games keep moving around.
