Augustana – 2010 Baseball Schedule

Augustana has posted their schedule for the upcoming 2010 baseball season.  Augustana 2010 Schedule

The Vikings open their season at the Metrodome on February 3rd and again on February 7th against an unnamed opponent.  I guess that means they have the place rented and are looking for someone to come play with them.  They have 3 spring trips planned – Colorado on February 13-14, Missouri on February 27-28 and the Russ Matt Invitational in Winter Haven, FL March 11-17.  That means all 4 teams that I have seen schedules for are heading to the Russ Matt (UMD is heading there but hasn’t posted it online).

Within the Northern Sun Conference the Augies will avoid playing Minnesota State, Minnesota Duluth, Minnesota Crookston & Mary which gives them one of the tougher schedules on paper.  One highly favorable thing is that they won’t have to do a ton of traveling during the Conference season.  It’s highly likely that Bemidji will end up playing in Sioux Falls (Bemidji in March?).

How surprising? Seems like augie will have the hardest schedule in the NSIC again….weird!

  2. 2 Wow October 6, 2009 at 2:17 pm

The NSIC has there head up there you know what. They are lucky the NCC has disbanded. That was a class conference. Maybe Butch Raymond and the others should take a good look on what it takes to be a great conference.
Not fair to the school, the kids ,the fans. Give SMSU a free walk to the playoffs again. They had the easiest schedule last year and again this year. Lets look at the toughness of the opponents when they figure out who has the best stats. I think to catch up on stats with the other teams for the last two years, Augustana should get to play the bottom team in the confernce 12 times this year. Can’t do that, maybe to many records would be broken. But again Augie made the playoffs and St. Cloud did not with its record winning win season after playing no one.

Augie had to play Wayne St and Mankato in the playoffs. Lets have 8 team playoff please. All the kids deserve better.

8 teams would have good format to follow. I wish every would play at least a DH against all other teams. Logistically it would be impossible without a mid season tournament.

since were talking about teams i think Winona has a chance of winning conference this year one reason is they dont play wayne st or mankato, two they have almost there whole returning team also with arguably the best player in the conference with the mueller kid, and three are over due of playing some really good ball. what does everyone else think???

  6. 6 Wow October 13, 2009 at 10:57 am

I agree that Mueller is one of the top players in the conference and maybe the best. Winona will be one of the top 4 teams this year. I also believe that St. Cloud , Mankato, Wayne St will be the other three to beat.

Hey huskie10 and Wow, Winona isn’t the only team with just about everyone returning. Wayne St. only lost their Left Fielder, DH, and one stud pitcher. And you wana talk about top players in the conferance, have either of you ever heard of a kid named Wendte?

Looks like we are going to find that out early? 2/26 – 2/27 in the Dome. Winona Vs. Wayne State.

  8. 9 Wow October 18, 2009 at 9:26 pm

Wendte and Mueller are both great players. Mueller pitched very well for the La Crosse Loggers in the NWL and also hit well at the plate. Entering the season as a Soph this year, there is so much room for the upside for him.
Wendte will have a great year and most likely get drafted.
I can’t wait for the season to start.

yes wendte is great player too but like wow said he is a senior, mueller coming in as a soph is at the same level as wendte and i like mueller more just cuz he can do both really well pitch and hit, i am very excited to see how these two do and the rest of the conference

Hi Huskie10 – welcome to the blog.

We’re still in the dead period for much news but you can check the SCSU site from my links. They have one of the better sites for updating information happening throughout the year.

They had an extremely good recruiting class so when you add that to the strong pitching staff they already had last year I would expect them to definitely make the top 6 this year.

Is the 2010 SCSU Roster correct? Not 1 senior on the team?? What happened there?

    • 14 fishingmn October 23, 2009 at 7:53 am

No – they haven’t corrected their roster for 2010 yet. All of the guys you see listed are really 1 school year older and they don’t have their 2010 freshman listed.

Hey IMAFAN, I’ll be at the Dome on the 26th/27th. Look me up if your there. Should be a couple of real good games.

  14. 17 Wow October 28, 2009 at 10:32 pm

I see that St.Cloud will play 20 games in the Metrodome this year. Nice to play in a controlled enviroment. Should help them.

Hey, Does anybody know what type of playing surface is in the Metrodome? Am I correct in assuming it’s artifical since there’s no sunlight?

  16. 19 fishingmn November 3, 2009 at 8:50 am

Hi John, no sun = no grass. The dome uses FieldTurf.
