Winona State – 2010 Baseball Schedule

Winona State

Winona State has posted their baseball schedule for the upcoming 2010 season.  Winona State 2010 Schedule

The Warriors open their season on February 19th in Warrensburg, MO in the University of Central Missouri’s Tourney.  The team looks to be playing a really hard pre-season schedule with teams like Central Missouri, Wayne State, Florida Southern and 2 games against defending national champion Lynn University.  Like Southwest Minnesota State and Minnesota Duluth, the Warriors will be playing their spring break games at the Russ Matt Tourney in Winter Haven, FL.

While the non-conference is tough, on paper their Northern Sun schedule is quite easy.  Sure, they don’t play Northern State but they also avoid the 3 teams I am predicting as the “early” favorites – Wayne State, Minnesota State and St. Cloud State.  By avoiding those 12 games Winona should have a definite leg up in making the NSIC tourney for the top 6 teams.

Does anybody know when Wayne State’s baseball schedule comes out?

Hey John – I don’t but I’ll keep checking each of the 11 schools that haven’t posted them yet and get them published when available. It’s a good bet that a number of schools won’t have them out until just before the season starts (Northern & Mary seemed to do that last year).

Thanks fishingman. I’ll appricate the info when it becomes available. I can’t remember when Waynes schedule came out last year but if any of the 11 others come out first I can probably pick out some Road Trips from there. Thanks again.

The schedules will likely be out for most schools closer to January 2010.

By then all of thrips will be finalized and the rest of the nonconference will fill out.

Hopefully most schools can afford a trip to a southern area.

any news from fall camps on who did and did not return to their prospective schools?

It appears that everyone has returned to Wayne as expected. 8 returning starters and a strong pitching staff has got my expectations pretty high. I would be surprised if they aren’t preseason top 20.
    See you Saturday Plash!!

Hey guys – thanks for the updates. I’ll be doing a roster analysis as we get closer to the season and teams start posting their 2010 roster.

The only team to post a roster so far is Southwest MN State – it looks like they had 6 guys that didn’t return who had eligibility left including Doug Stearns who was their 2nd leading hitter behind Derek West who graduated. They are losing a lot of their hitting but most of their pitching returns.

UMD lost a couple minor players who weren’t getting much playing time – other than losing all-Conference player David Olson pretty much everyone returns to a team that was coming on at the end. I’m still not convinced they have enough to make the top 6 this year though. Need a few freshman pitchers to help out and their outfield needs to hit better. No real power.
