NSIC D2 Baseball Tourney – 4 Teams Remain

First off, thanks to the many readers of Northern Sun Baseball who made this thread Northern Sun Tourney Starts Today the most commented on in this blogs short history.  I had to change computers at the most inopportune time – right in the middle of the Northern Sun Tournament.  Backing up software and reloading all of the blogging tools has slowed me down a bit.

Wayne State and Upper Iowa are the 2 undefeated teams left in the Tournament.  The Wildcats and Peacocks square off today at Noon in a critical matchup with the winner in the drivers seat for the NSIC Playoff Title and and automatic bid to the NCAA Division 2 college baseball Regional Tournament.  SMSU and Minnesota State play at 3:30pm today.  Whichever team wins will immediately turn around and play against the loser of WSC and UIU.  Basically, those teams are  now in a position of having to win 4 straight games over 2 days to win the Tourney.

Augustana and Winona State were the first 2 teams eliminated from the Tournament as both teams lost their 2 opening games to end their seasons.

You can continue to follow the action using Live Stats here – NSIC Live Stats

SH Test

In the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference there are 3 teams left.  New Mexico Highlands is the lone undefeated team.  They will play the winner of today’s game between Nebraska – Kearney and Colorado State – Pueblo.  The winner of that game will have to beat Highlands twice in order to try and win the RMAC Tournament and their NCAA automatic bid.  RMAC Tourney Headquarters

    Game on PeacockGal.

I still think it would suck to lose to a Peacock!! How about the ballerina’s??

Why is the No. 1 seed, without a loss, the visitor?? This could quite possibly be the worst conference in America.

    Go Cats!!

its not a conference rule its an NCAA rule based on the NCAA Regional/Championship formula…its long and complicated and stupid, and i agree high seed should get home team…that also makes the regular season games mean that much more

8-4 Cats. I would sure hate to be Wayne!!

    Whaddya think PeacockGal??

    6 run 8th. 10-4 Cats.

    We are padding stats now.

    10-4 Final.

    2 for the Championship tomorrow.

    Way to go Cats!!

You appear to be losing a bit of your credibility with your arrogance. Your comments WERE interesting they are now becoming boring

Upper Iowa will now face the winner of the MSU-Mankato/SMSU contest tonight at 7:00. The winner of that game plays WSC at noon on Sunday for the tournament championship. WSC needs to be beat twice to be eliminated.

In the RMAC tournament today, Colorado State-Pueblo defeated Nebraska-Kearney 12-10, eliminating the Lopers. CSU-Pueblo is playing New Mexico Highlands right now in the championship game. Both teams have one loss, so the winner of this game wins the tourney and the auto-bid to the regional tournament.

Sorry to have bored you or lead you to believe I was arrogant. Funny, I was going to post last night when the Gal started, but chose to wait. Now, well you get the direction I have drifted.

I believe it was she who said “I would hate to be Wayne, UI is on a roll.” Seems that if you are going to start talking you should have something to back it up.

And the SCSU guy is the one who said something about picking on Northern and Crookston and padding stats. Just givin it back Man.

Anyway, sorry about all that. Sometimes I guess I don’t take others arrogance well and react in the same fashion. My bad.

    Thanks for the updates.

That said, please keep it civil. There are plenty of places to trash talk (try the D2 message board – link on right). I’d like Northern Sun Baseball to avoid any trash talk. 🙂

I’m not sure what you are trying to get at, but i was just proud of my guys!! I sat an watched them lose a lot of really touch games, and they are playing their best baseball right now!! So yes, i’m have the information to back it up, no i wasn’t dissing Wayne, great program, congrats to them!! and just on a note… uiu was winning 4-2 bottom of the 7th when they took their starting and pry their best pitcher lucas wilsing out of the game!! so the next time you want to “try” to call me out, you better understand the context of my message!!!! GOOD LUCK TONIGHT BOYS!!!

Mankato defeated Southwest Minnesota State 6-5, eliminating the Mustangs.

So tonight at 7:00 it will be Minnesota State-Mankato vs. Upper Iowa for the right to play in the championship game.

  13. 13 wscsuperfan May 9, 2009 at 5:37 pm

In the 6th inning of the RMAC championship game, Colorado State-Pueblo is leading New Mexico Highlands 14-1. So barring a complete collapse, it appears CSU-Pueblo will win the RMAC and grab the auto bid.

  14. 14 wscsuperfan May 9, 2009 at 6:16 pm

Pueblo wins the RMAC championship 15-1 over N.M. Highlands.

  15. 15 wscsuperfan May 10, 2009 at 12:18 am

Mankato defeats Upper Iowa 12-3. So it will be Minnesota State-Mankato vs. Wayne State for the NSIC Tournament championship at noon on Sunday. Mankato needs to win twice in order to win the tourney.
