The Wildcats had a lot of offense going for them in this series with Pitt State. A few bright spots on the mound too, but lots of good offense.

Hey WSC – thanks for posting. You are more than welcome to be the Wayne State reporter and add more in depth information than I can provide.

WSC did rebound nicely from the debacle that was game 1. Still kicked it around the diamond, but that will get better. Game 1 was their first time outside this year.

Pitching staff seems like it has a chance to be strong and they will score some runs. 3 bombs from Koch (pre season All American)and 4 others with 1 each.

      Welcome WSCDad,

Coach Manganaro basically said the same thing to me this morning in an e-mail exchange. Not getting outside enough hurt them a little, especially in that first game when they had so many mistakes. He said he felt they were getting a little tired by the 4th game as well – need to get acclimated to the demands of the season.

He played a lot of guys – I really didn’t notice the fatigue, but he would know more than I. I am anxious for them to get down south and get some games under their belts. I think they can go a long way this season.
By the way, appreciate your effort with this blog and look forward to “baseball talk” as the season progresses.

Augustana is scoring runs and stealing bases. They have scored 78 runs in 9 games. Stole 17-18 bases. Last year they stole 23 in 44 games. They have a team 313 batting average. Some nice hitting over the weekend. Three players come to my mind that have got it goin. Green had a nice weekend. On Sunday he went 3-7 with 6RBI and 1 homerun. Dubanoski, Charles.. is having a great start with 3 homeruns so far and 12 RBI’s and a .406 batting average. Baumann is getting it going after a 8 month layoff from baseball. Over the weekend he went 6-11 with 1 home run, 2 doubles and 6 RBI’s raised his average to .409.
Pitching will be the question mark on the season.

Thanks for the details. It’s great to have you contribute more insight. Feel free to add more details frequently.

Once we get more teams that have played a better subset of games I hope to add some statistical analysis. It’s tough when you have some teams that have played 10+ games and others (SWMS) that haven’t even started playing yet.
