Northern Sun Players of the Week

Players Of The Week

The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference announced their players of the week for last week.  They are –

P.J. McIntee of Bemidji State has been named Player of the Week.  The Beavers second baseman played in 4 games last week and helped lead them to a 3-1 start for the season.  McIntee was 5-9 (.556 average) with 2 doubles and 7 RBI’s.  In addition, he walked twice and was HBP once so his overall on base percentage was a stellar .615.  The 3-1 start for Bemidji State is their best opening of a season since 2002.  PJ McIntee News Release

The Northern Sun Conference Preseason Pitcher of the Year lived up to his billing during the season’s first week as Concordia University’s Jake Schmidt was named Pitcher of the Week.  Schmidt was 1-0 as he pitched a complete game shutout against Northern State to open the Golden Bears season.  In addition to holding the Wolves to only 2 hits he tied his career best with 13 strikeouts.  While yesterday’s games didn’t go toward the award, Schmidt moved to 2-0 while helping his team beat Minnesota Duluth.  When not pitching the senior from Oakdale, MN is starting in center field where he is among the team’s leaders in batting as well.  Jake Schmidt News Release
