The Minnesota State Mavericks lost their 2nd straight game at the 2010 NCAA Division 2 College World Series yesterday and have been eliminated from the Tournament. While it was a disappointing way to end their season, the 6-2 loss to #13 Franklin Pierce doesn’t diminish what was a very successful season. The Mavs finished the year with a 44-16 record, the most wins in school history. They also won the Northern Sun Regular Season Title, the Northern Sun Postseason Tournament and the Central Region Tournament.
Other Games
In other games yesterday, Southern Indiana beat Kutztown 7-1 in a Bracket 2 battle of unbeatens and now is 1 game away from the Championship Game. Kutztown will face Franklin Pierce today for the opportunity to try and beat Southern Indiana twice.
Today’s other game will feature a Bracket 1 elimination game between Central Missouri and Georgia College.
Great season Mavs maybe now the RMAC might think the NSIC is for real with baseball after SCSU and Mav showing. If the conference tourney would go to 8 teams I firmly believe 4 of 6 regional bids come out of NSIC
Great season Mavs and pretty dang great season NSIC. With many teams having the majority of there key players back next year it should even be more competitive.
Softball has 8 teams. Gender equity means baseball should have 8 teams. And just look how the 5 and 6 teams did this year and how 6 seed SCSU did in the regional. Gives more opportunity to teams/players to extend their season, especially now with the reducition to 50 games.
Play on both fields at St. Cloud the first day and 4 teams would be departing the first day, so they can’t say cost is the issue.
Anonymous I couldn’t agree more with all the returning players in conference it might come down again to last weekend to decide top six if this remains the same format.
Sure hope conference reps continue good work next season in regional polls because the NSIC deserves to host the region next season with Mankato leading the charge.
The wind aided RMAC was put down to size in regional play by NSIC so lets start stomping our cases right from the get go next year!
I”ve heard eight team tournament was voted down..because we only have 13 schools for baseball. what a joke!
Can’t wait for next year already. In the mean time I will have to do plenty of thinking about this past season and the upcoming year. I will try to do this everyday from my boat in northern Minnesota. Refresh the brain with plenty of brain food. Walleye, crappie, sunfish.
Go NSIC.
Hey Wow, How can I get me one of them jobs?
Have a great time between baseball seasons. The Mav’s had a marvelous season. I congratulate the players, coaches, and school administrators.
