At this time last week any regular reader will know I started a rant about the Northern Sun Conference’s Player of the Week selections – NSIC Award Rant That rant and the subsequent follow-up with the Conference office (Rant Follow-up) provided my highest week ever in terms of blog traffic.
The easy selection this week for Player of the Week was Winona State’s Tony Mueller. I wrote a few days ago about the freshman outfielder from La Crosse who was off to an amazing start to his college baseball career – Mueller Off To Blazing Start. During the Warrior’s week in Florida, Mueller had a .630 batting average which included 17 hits in 27 at-bats. He had multiple hits in every single game and even pitched an inning getting his first ever college save.
Pitcher of the Week was Kyle Schroeder of the University of Mary. The sophomore from Dickinson, ND had a great outing against Montana State – Billings as he started and went 6 innings without giving up an earned run. He ended up striking out 6 and allowed only 3 hits to get his first win of the season.
Great pick for player this week. Will be fun to see how his season goes.
Yes it was a good pick i just cant believe that he is a true freshman. where did he come from
This young man certainly had a wonderful week. It will nice to see how these freshmen handle the conference season.
Yes i agree, but it has been the last two weeks down in central missouri it looks like he was 7/12. But i do agree conference could bring different challenges. just surprising that a true freshman is batting over 600 with 39 at bats
